Overview
This study hopes to assess how early life experiences can affect a skin condition called atopic dermatitis (AD). Information on both negative and positive experiences during childhood will be requested and compared to their AD severity. Forty children between the ages of 10 and 17, seen at Phoenix Children’s Dermatology clinic for AD, will take part in the study. The study has three main goals: 1. to see how negative experiences are linked to AD severity, 2. to see how positive experiences are linked to AD severity, and 3. to understand how both negative and positive experiences work together to influence AD severity. Background information will be obtained from the patients’ medical records, and surveys will be given to patients at their appointment. This study will help healthcare professionals and parents understand how childhood experiences can affect AD and potential ways to help children with this condition.
