Clinical and Molecular Insights into Pediatric Guttate Psoriasis and its Management

Overview:
Guttate psoriasis (GP) is the second most common form of psoriasis in children, yet it remains understudied. Up to half of affected patients progress to chronic disease, but only a single randomized trial has evaluated systemic therapy for this subtype. Treatment decisions are largely guided by plaque psoriasis data, which may or may not be correct. Our study addresses this gap in evidence-based guidance through a multicenter chart review across PeDRA institutions comparing treatment responses in GP versus plaque psoriasis, paired with molecular analysis of skin and blood samples collected at our institution. By examining differences between patients whose disease resolves and those whose disease persists, we aim to identify factors driving progression and chronicity.
