PeDRA Biostatistician Support Request

The PeDRA Biostatistician is available as a free resource to PeDRA Members to provide a range of services depending on the project stage. Learn more about services provided and request support using the form below.

  • For new PeDRA Studies or ideas, PeDRA Grant and Award Applications under preparation, or ongoing PeDRA Studies that have encountered a roadblock: Early Project Support for assistance with study design (including power and sample size calculations), development of analysis plans, and selection of appropriate statistical methodologies.
  • For ongoing PeDRA Studies that started prior to November 1, 2021 or new PeDRA Studies that have had an early project support meeting and are ready to proceed with next steps: Full-service statistical support including services such as method selection, data analysis, interpretation of results, data visualizations, and manuscript preparation assistance.

To be eligible for any form of support from the PeDRA Biostatistician, the Principal Investigator (PI) must be a PeDRA Member in good standing and the project under consideration must satisfy at least one of the criteria defined above.

To be eligible for full-service statistical support, investigators need to have already had an early project support meeting with the PeDRA Biostatistician and must submit a new request through this form. PeDRA Studies that began prior to November 1, 2021 are exempt from this requirement but are strongly encouraged to utilize an early project support meeting prior to requesting full-service support.

  • Early Project Support (Design Stage) – Assistance with study design, including power and sample size calculation, development of analysis plans, and selection of appropriate statistical methodologies. (This generally takes about 90 minutes total: a 30-minute meeting, plus up to an hour of follow-up to do the power calculations/analysis write-up).
  • Consultation – Individual meetings with the biostatistician to address specific methodological or analytical questions related to a research project. (Best for when someone is running the analysis themselves and wants a stamp of approval and/or ensure they are doing it correctly. These are generally 60-minute meetings, although occasional minimal follow-up on questions is required).
  • Late Project Support (Data Analysis Stage) Support for data analysis, creation of tables and figures, and preparation of statistical methods and results sections for manuscripts, posters, or abstracts. (Support offered can range anywhere from 2-3 hours up to 20+, including an initial meeting with the biostatistician).
  • Additional Support – For researchers who have already initiated collaboration with the PeDRA biostatistician who need continued assistance or additional analyses beyond the initial project phase.

Early project support meetings are available to all eligible PIs and projects. Following administrative review to confirm eligibility, PeDRA staff will coordinate consultations dependent upon schedule availability.

Additional project support requests will be evaluated on a competitive basis by the PeDRA Staff to preserve equity of access to the biostatistician and to manage the biostatistician’s workload. A scope of services for approved requests will be mutually agreed upon by the biostatistician and PI before any support is provided.

Requests will be accepted at any time and reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that PeDRA Biostatistics is available during limited hours and often supporting many projects simultaneously. Under normal circumstances, we will respond to correspondence from approved projects within 5 business days in the order that emails are received. During periods of particularly high demand or staff travel this delay may be longer. These times include:

  • Prior to the abstract submission deadline for the PeDRA Annual Conference
  • Prior to the abstract submission deadline for the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Annual Meeting
  • Prior to the submission deadlines for PeDRA Grants and Fellowships.
  • Prior to other common abstract deadlines such as AAD and SID.

Under all circumstances, please plan ahead so that PeDRA Biostatistics can provide you with the best support possible.

Note that all requests to work with the PeDRA Biostatistician must be made through this form. Do not reach out to the biostatistician to arrange services directly.

Investigators who receive any form of support from the PeDRA Biostatistician are expected to acknowledge PeDRA in all related manuscripts and posters. Authorship credit for the PeDRA Biostatistician should be considered according to the standards of PeDRA’s Authorship Statement.
