PeDRA will accept abstract submissions for posters to be displayed at the 2025 PeDRA Annual Conference. All abstracts will undergo peer review by the PeDRA Outcomes Committee and will be selected based upon their suitability for display at the Conference and the following guidelines:
• Abstract submissions will be considered from any Conference attendee, including representatives from industry and patient advocacy.
• Abstracts should demonstrate findings ready to share with PeDRA membership and/or other stakeholders (including patients, parents, and advocates) in attendance at the Conference.
• Abstracts will be prioritized if they are from a PeDRA Study, PeDRA-funded grant, or include at least one PeDRA member as an author.
• Abstracts must be accompanied by a brief, 1,000 character maximum layperson summary suitable for patient stakeholders attending the conference.
• Case reports will only be considered if linked directly to a new or ongoing research question, PeDRA Study, or PeDRA-funded grant.
• No more than one (1) abstract discussing an individual study will be considered. All information should be combined into a single abstract, rather than submitting multiple abstracts.
• Data should be presented clearly. Investigators should only present their own data, unless purposefully submitting a review project.
• Review submissions will only be considered if highly relevant and original research is prioritized. The abstract title must include the type of review, and methods should be included in review submissions.
• Posters on display at the PeDRA conference should support the
PeDRA mission and vision, prioritizing information sharing and collaboration over commercial interests and competition.
• At any time and at their own discretion, PeDRA reserves the right to reject or withdraw abstracts or posters that do not satisfy these guidelines.
• There will be no embargo placed on abstracts or posters/presentations at the 2025 PeDRA Annual Conference.
• At least one author must be a registered attendee at the Conference for an abstract to be considered.
• Encore abstracts* will be considered.
• Medical students and research fellows are not eligible to submit an abstract until they apply for and are accepted into the NextGen Research Forum.**
*Encore abstracts refer to abstracts that communicate data that has previously been presented elsewhere.
**Due to space limitations, there will be a competitive application and review process for medical students and research fellows to attend the Conference. All medical students interested in attending the 2025 PeDRA Annual Conference must be accepted to the NextGen Research Forum. Applications were due on Thursday, June 26, 2025, and notification of acceptance will be sent by Thursday, July 10, 2025. Upon acceptance into the NextGen Research Forum, students and research fellows will be eligible to register for Conference and submit an abstract for consideration as posters and/or oral presentations.
Format
• Abstracts will be limited to a maximum of 1,500 characters and must be accompanied by a 1,000 character maximum layperson’s summary suitable for the patient stakeholder audience that will be in attendance at the 2025 PeDRA Annual Conference.
• All accepted abstracts will be shared as posters at the Conference. Abstract text and layperson summaries will be visible in digital format to registered conference attendees through the mobile app for a set amount of time. Specific details (including poster size) will be communicated to authors no later than Friday, September 5, 2025.
• All posters may include QR codes to relevant supplemental resources, publications, or presentations.
Oral Presentations
A small number of abstracts will be selected by the Outcomes Committee for live oral presentation during the Conference on Friday, October 10. Authors will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in being considered for this opportunity through the abstract submission form.
Breakout Session Discussions
Abstracts submitted for consideration in the PeDRA Poster Forum will not automatically be considered for discussion during breakout sessions, nor is submission of an abstract required to participate in a breakout session. If you would like your project to be considered for discussion in a breakout session, please contact the Focused Study Group leads or email us at research@pedraresearch.org. Trainees should also consider the NextGen Research Forum as a venue to present project updates and results. Applications to the NextGen Research Forum must be submitted separately.
