Overview

This research looks at children with alopecia areata (AA), a condition that causes hair loss who also have specific changes in the way their immune system, called inborn errors of immunity (IEI). These children have increased risk of autoimmune disease and infections. The study will gather data from multiple investigators who treat children with AA. By reviewing medical records from the last five years, the researchers aim to find out how many children with AA also have IEI. They will also check if these kids presented to their doctors differently or responded differently to treatments for their hair loss. By understanding these patterns, doctors will be able to better tailor treatments for kids with AA, especially those with IEI, in the future.
