Cross-Cutting Research

PeDRA investigators are a diverse group of clinicians and scientists committed to serving children with skin disease through research. While these investigators often focus the bulk of their efforts on one or two specific research areas, they all posses a broad set of relevant skills and experiences. At the same time, patients and families living with childhood skin diseases face unique challenges related to their disease, but also share many of the same burdens. Things like the stigma attached to a visible disease, like viewing a lifetime with a chronic disease from the perspective of a child, like itch, like pain, and like discomfort.

Thanks to the strength of its members and its patient partners, PeDRA is in a unique position to address large-scale research questions that require a large amount of data and span multiple diseases. The outcome of this kind of research may change the public perception of pediatric skin diseases, communicate the importance of funding pediatric dermatology research, accelerate the regulatory path for new treatments, and much more.

Contact us if you have an idea for a cross-cutting research study.
