President’s Message

Dear Friends,

PeDRA was founded on the value of collaboration and the importance of multiplying individual potential by coming together on research projects and scientific exploration.

As PeDRA steps into its tenth year, I find myself reflecting on our collaborative strengths and the dedication, commitment and power that each individual member brings to our over 579 member strong community. I’m so glad that you are here.

Sometimes one simple thing can make a huge difference in the lives of many. PeDRA witnessed several, impactful, individual events last year that we are so excited to showcase for you in this report. Of particular note are PeDRA’s addition of a new mid-career investigator Career Bridge Research Grant, the formation of a new committee to support issues around equity, diversity and inclusion, and the welcoming of a dedicated biostatistician to PeDRA’s staff in 2021.

Beyond these unique milestones, PeDRA continued to grow and excel in every possible dynamic in 2021. Our grants and awards programming expanded by over 46%, we welcomed 153 new members, and released 26 virtual educational programs that were accessed more than 3000 times.

Please spend some time exploring the highlights of PeDRA’s 2021. Our collaborative community expands and empowers our individual efforts and the science we support continues to impact the lives and healing of children with skin disease.

I look forward to your continued support and commitment in 2022 and I thank you so
much for the energy and light that you bring to our community.

Most Sincerely,

Ilona Frieden, MD
University of California San Francisco
PeDRA President
