The inaugural PeDRA Dash for Discovery virtual fun run was October 8 – 10, 2021.
PeDRA’s first-ever fun run gave runners and walkers of all ages and abilities the chance to support research and collaboration in the field of pediatric dermatology with their choice of a 5K fun run/walk or a child-friendly 1-mile run/walk.

The 2021 PeDRA Dash for Discovery was the perfect way to support PeDRA’s Mission to create, inspire, and sustain research to prevent, treat, and cure childhood skin disease and improve the lives of children with skin disease.
As a virtual event, the Dash took place any time between Friday, October 8 and Sunday, October 10 on a course of your own design.
PeDRA was excited to give runners and walkers the opportunity (totally optional!) to use the 2021 PeDRA Dash for Discovery to raise funds in support of pediatric dermatology research.
Below are the rewards participants could earn as an individual fundraiser:
- Raise $100 and earn a PeDRA Dash for Discovery Athletic Running Hat
- Raise $250 and earn a PeDRA Dash for Discovery Hoodie
- Raise $500 or more and earn a PeDRA CamelBak Hydrobak
Have fun AND compete! PeDRA created some friendly competition to increase chances of winning, beyond having the fastest time in a run category. Awards were given for the following:
- Best photo submitted.
- Top fundraising team**
- Top individual fundraiser**
- Best / Wackiest dressed run participant – Have FUN with this! (All species are eligible).***

*Fun run medals will be sent to the first 250 registrants located in North America. Receipt of t-shirts, medals, and bibs prior to October 8 is not guaranteed to participants in the United States who sign up after September 10 or any participants outside the United States. Participants located outside of North America will receive a t-shirt, electronic welcome packet, and a downloadable running bib.
**Awards will be given to the top fundraiser and top fundraising team as of October 11, 2021 at 8:00 AM PT.
***All photos must be submitted on the race site by October 11, 2021 at 8:00 AM PT to be eligible of the contests.
